Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded or saved. Type Calculator is an unofficial fan-made tool and is not affiliated with Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company. Species types come from the PokeAPI open data set and use each Pokémon’s current types.
How to read the type chart
Each row is an attacking type and each column is a defending type. Find the move’s type on the left and follow the row to the defender’s type: 2× is super effective, ½× is not very effective, 0× means no effect, and a blank cell is normal 1× damage. For a Pokémon with two types, multiply the two cells together, or use the type calculator to do it for you.
Pick a type in the menu or tap any cell to highlight that type’s row and column. The panel then lists everything it hits hard, everything that resists it, and what it is weak to and resists when defending.
- Rows: the type of the attacking move.
- Columns: the type of the Pokémon being hit.
- This is the chart used from Pokémon X and Y onward, including Scarlet and Violet.
All type immunities
Eight matchups do no damage at all. These are the ones that win or lose battles, because a single switch-in can block an attack completely.
- Normal and Fighting moves cannot hit Ghost types.
- Ghost moves cannot hit Normal types.
- Electric moves cannot hit Ground types.
- Ground moves cannot hit Flying types.
- Psychic moves cannot hit Dark types.
- Poison moves cannot hit Steel types.
- Dragon moves cannot hit Fairy types.
