Type combinations that wall this moveset

Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded or saved. Type Calculator is an unofficial fan-made tool and is not affiliated with Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company. Species types come from the PokeAPI open data set and use each Pokémon’s current types.

How to use the type coverage calculator

Tap the move types your Pokémon or team can use, up to six. The table shows the best multiplier you reach against each of the 18 single types and which of your moves gets it. Below it, the calculator checks every type combination that exists on a real Pokémon and lists the ones that resist or ignore every move you picked, with example Pokémon for each.

Good coverage means few or no combinations in that second list. Four move types is the most a single Pokémon can carry, so use four for one Pokémon and up to six to check the attacking types across a team.

  • Ice and Ground together hit 9 of the 18 types super effectively, and only 2 real type combinations resist both.
  • Ice, Electric and Fighting leave no real type combination resisting all three.
  • Ghost and Fighting together are only blocked by Normal/Ghost Pokémon.

Why combinations matter more than single types

Most Pokémon have two types, and a second type can cancel a weakness. Ice is super effective against Dragon, but a Water/Dragon Pokémon takes neutral damage from it. Checking only single types hides those gaps, which is why the calculator also runs your moves against all type pairs that appear on real species and forms.

Common questions

What is good type coverage?

A moveset that hits most type combinations for at least neutral damage and leaves few that resist every move. Picking attack types whose weaknesses do not overlap, such as Ice and Ground, gives the widest coverage.

Does the coverage calculator count abilities like Levitate?

No. It checks types only. Remember that Levitate and similar abilities can block Ground, Fire, Water, Electric or Grass moves on specific Pokémon.

Why are some combinations listed twice in other tools?

Type order does not change defensive matchups, so this calculator counts Water/Bug and Bug/Water as one combination.
